i-net Clear Reports

i-net Clear Reports is a full-blown reporting solution. It can accommodate a broad scope of reporting needs - from a simple standalone application to a really big Enterprise Web Solution! It can render report templates designed with i-net Designer or Ad hoc reporting.

i-net Clear Reports offers a lot of advantages:

  • Vendor-independent: i-net Clear Reports works well with all common web-servers
  • Cross-platform: i-net Clear Reports works on all operating systems with a Java VM (e.g. Win32, Unix, LINUX, Mac OS, OS390)
  • Can be directly integrated in Java - applications (even without a web-server)
  • Employment of industry standard Crystal Reports Designer for designing reports
  • Including the report design tool i-net Designer
  • Ad hoc reporting
  • Task Planner
  • integrated web application to run reports (see: Remote Interface)

Remote Interface

The i-net Clear Reports Remote Interface is the most convenient way to access the report server and use its functions. The interface contains several applications which work independently - but together allow powerful behavior.

The Remote Interface currently offers: Ad hoc reporting, Configuration Manager, Datasource Manager, Report Designer, Repository Browser, Task Planner and Statistics. More applications are on the way.

How to enable

You can open the Remote Interface in a web browser of your choice with http://<hostname>:<port>/<servletcontext>/remote - if the report server is running as standalone application (Listener) or service then there is no <servletcontext>. In this case you can use: http://yourserver:9000/remote.

Restricting access

If login type "Master Password" is used then it is necessary to set a password for the Remote Interface to secure it against random access. This is only the first step to restrict unwanted access to your server and it is advised to use further mechanisms such as the login URL and Permissions.

If no Master Password was set then no user can access the remote interface. In this case the standalone recovery tool need to be used to repair the configuration.

By default the login type is set to Automatic which means the default authentication of the used operating sytem. On Windows the Windows Authentication is used and on Linux the PAM authentication is used by default.

The Permissions can also be used to restrict access to certain features, e.g. there is an account for administration which has the permission to use every feature and an account for visitors which only has permission for the Repository Browser.
